Wet Bead Blasting: A Gentle Way To Clean and Restore Your Engine Parts
|
Wet bead blasting uses air pressurized glass bead media in a slurry of water and de-greasing solvent. Unlike
sand-blasting, wet bead blasting cleans metal surfaces without being abrasive. Safe even for gasketed surfaces on
engine parts, the process removes paint, grease and grime, rust scale and corrosion, on aluminum, steel and iron
parts. Will not open grain on castings or engine cases, and in fact, tends to close the surface of the metal making
buffing and polishing easier. Safe also for zinc-chromated or cadmium plated iron or steel.

Another advantage to wet bead blasting is that there are no abrasive materials left over on or in the parts after the
process. The media rinses easily from the parts with plain water. Below are some detail images of the metal surfaces
after blasting. The engine case details show how easily the surface can be buffed.
